No; no subscription is required to use the scale. All Withings online services are included in the price of the scale.
Can I use my Withings scale even if I don't have an iPhone?
Of course you can! You can access your charts from your computer. It's that simple.
Can several people use the same Withings body scale?
Yes; one scale can automatically recognise up to 8 different users which means the Withings body scale an ideal tool for the entire family.
If several of us use the same Withings body scale, can I still keep my data private?
Yes. You can create different accounts for each of the scale's users. That way, each user can consult his/her own dashboard, which is protected by a password.
Since my measurements are recorded on line, can't anyone see them?
No. All your measurements are displayed on your personal dashboard, which is protected by a password. You can designate other users with whom you wish to share your data if you so desire.
Must I tweet my weight?
No; communicating your weight via Twitter is just one of the many options your scale offers. It is not automatic. In fact, by default this function is disabled.
What equipment do I need to use the Withings body scale?
To use the scale, you must have wireless Internet access (other than a public "hot spot" with a router configurable only under standard 802.11n) and a computer.
Installation and technical questions
I am not really a "technical" person. Is the scale easy to set up?
Yes; the Withings body scale is quick and easy to set up. Everything is explained step by step and the installation process only takes a few minutes.
How can I tell if the Withings body scale is compatible with my Wifi access point?
The Withings body scale is compatible with all Wifi access points on the market (except public hotspots). It does not matter who your service provider is; you can easily connect your scale.
Does the Withings body scale stay connected to my Wifi network around the clock?
No; the scale only connects to the network periodically (after a weigh-in and only after you get off the scale).
Does the scale work even when my WAP is disconnected?
Yes; you can continue to weigh-in as usual. The scale can save up to 16 measurements. It will send them to your dashboard as soon as your connection is restored.
Can I use my Withings scale on a carpeted floor and still get an accurate reading?
Yes, if the carpeting is not too thick. Special feet are provided so you can get an accurate reading on non-rigid floors.
Can I change the Withings scale's units of measure?
Yes. The Withings scale allows you to use kg, lb, or st lb. You can easily change the unit of measure you wish to use when weighing in.
Is there a weight limit for the Withings body scale?
The maximum weight limit is 180 kg (396 lbs). Above this weight, the data displayed by the scale is not valid.
Use case
Can I use the body scale if I am pregnant?
Yes. Using the scale presents absolutely no health risk for pregnant women. However, the fat mass measurement will not be accurate. You should disable the fat mass measurement during 9 months and reactivate it after your pregnancy (go to "My account" then "My body scales").
Can I use the scale if I have a pacemaker?
NO. We strongly advise persons fitted with a pacemaker NOT TO USE the Withings body scale.
I started monitoring my weight before purchasing a Withings body scale. Can I add my previous data to my dashboard?
Yes. Your Withings scale has an "import data" function that enables you to automatically add your previous measurements to your dashboard.
Can I recover data measured by my Withings body scale?
Yes. You can export all your data to your computer.
I travel a lot. I how can I keep my curves up to date?
You can easily add your measurements manually to your dashboard for the dates of your choice or take your scale with you.
I do a lot of sports. How can the Withings scale be of use to me?
The Withings body scale offers an athlete mode that takes into account the physical build of sportsmen. This version enables you to efficiently monitor lean and fat body mass.

How long do the scale's batteries last?
The batteries last from 6 months to 1 year, depending on the number of users and frequency of use. The Withings body scale uses AAA non-rechargeable alkaline batteries.
